Meet the Underwater Museum of Isla Mujeres

This experience is for those certified divers who would like to experience the Underwater Museum in Isla Mujeres. This is a shallow dive with an average depth of 42 ft or 10 m and the maximum dive time is 45 min. The second dive will take place at a nearby shallow water reef with a similar depth and time. Here is a brief description of this adventure:

1. Prepare for your dive. These dives take place in Cancun. The gear will be ready before leaving the dive center here in Puerto Morelos. Make sure you have everything you will use. If you need equipment form us you will have time to try it beforehand. 
2. Travel to MUSA. Ones in Cancun, we will transport you to the dive site by boat. Enjoy the scenery during the ride!
3. Attend a safety briefing. During our way to MUSA we will give you a safety briefing. This will cover dive plans, safety procedures, and information about the sculptures and marine life.
4. Gear up and enter the water. Make sure that you are ready to entre the water. Follow your guide’s lead and follow your group while descending.
5. Explore the art. Once submerged, follow your guide to explore the underwater museum. Take your time to appreciate the sculptures and marine life.
6. Second dive. After a short surface interval we will explore a shallow water reef. Stay close to your guide leader and have fun!
7. Return. Return to the boat and head back to Cancun and then to Puerto Morelos. 
8. Post-Dive: Once back, you can discuss the dive experience, share photos, and, Share your photos and comments with us through a review as well!

What to expect?

MUSA or The Underwater Museum of Art in the only of it is kind in Mexico. It is located in the waters surrounding Cancun and Isla Mujeres and has over 500 life-size sculptures used to promote coral life. This experience is one of a kind and you can not miss the opportunity to explore it. Here are some features of this amazing dive site:

• Visibility: Generally, visibility is good, often ranging from 20 to 30 meters (65 to 100 feet). However, it can vary depending on weather conditions.

• Depth: The sculptures are placed at different depths, typically between 3 to 8 meters (10 to 26 feet), making it accessible for both beginners and experienced divers.

• Unique Photography Opportunities: The sculptures create stunning backdrops for underwater photography, so bring an underwater camera if you can!

• Environmental Focus: MUSA emphasizes conservation and education, so expect to learn about marine ecology and the importance of artificial reefs during your dive.

• Diving Conditions: The water is usually warm, ranging from 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F), so a short wetsuit or rash guard is typically sufficient.

• Respect the Art: It’s important to remember that the sculptures are delicate. Avoid touching or disturbing the art to preserve the site for future divers.
