The best option if you want to dive for the first time

Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is a great way to experience the underwater world without committing to a full certification course. This activity is for non-certified divers or divers who are going to dive for the first time. The minimum age is 10 years old and the maximum depth is 5 m or 15 ft.

Here’s how to do it, especially from the coast in Ojo de Agua:

1. Attend a class. On the day of your dive, arrive to the dive shop for a class. We will cover basic diving concepts, equipment use, and safety procedures.
2. Gear up. We will provide all necessary equipment, including a wetsuit, BCD (Buoyancy Control Device), regulator, and tank. Make sure everything fits properly.
3. Practice basic skills before heading into the water. You’ll practice some basic skills in shallow water. This includes how to clear your mask, breathe underwater, and use your equipment.
4. Enter the water. We will guide you as you enter the water from the beach. We’ll ensure you feel comfortable and safe. Follow us while descending and let us know if there is any discomfort.
5. Explore Underwater. Once submerged, follow us as you explore the underwater environment.  We will stay close, ensuring your safety and providing guidance.
6. Enjoy the experience. Take your time to enjoy the sights, whether it’s colorful fish, coral reefs, or other marine life. We will point out interesting things along the way.
7. Surface and Debrief. After your dive, you’ll ascend safely. Once back on the surface, you can discuss your experience with us.
8. Consider further training. If you enjoyed the experience, consider taking a full certification course (like PADI Open Water) to continue exploring the underwater world.

Ojo de Agua is a unique and beautiful reef accessible from the coast. This is actually a shore dive. This does not mean that there is less to see. In fact, due the particularities of the site is common to find a lot of different marine life.
