About this tour

Meet the Ojo de Agua reef in Puerto Morelos

This night dive takes place in Ojo de Agua reef at the National Marine Park of Puerto Morelos. This is a shore dive where the depth is 16 ft or 5 m and the maximum bottom time will be 60 min. The perfect time to start is at dusk. Here is a little description of the activity:

  1. Pre-Dive Briefing: You will participate in a pre-dive briefing led by instructor, covering: dive plan and objectives, entry and exit points, safety protocols and communication signals including light signals.
  2. Buddy Check: After arrive to the shore we will gear up and body checks! Do not forget to inflate your BCD!
  3. Safe Entry: Enter the water cautiously. This is a shore dive, be careful where you step and when you are in the water turn on the light and put on your fins! 
  4. Descent: The dive leader will let you know when is time to descend, stay close and do not forget to equalize constantly. Use your light to illuminate your path and surroundings. Buoyancy is really important, be carful with the corals. Keep your fin up and an horizontal flat position
  5. Underwater Navigation: Maintain close proximity to your dive guide throughout the dive. Shine your light to explore and observe marine life, but avoid shining it directly at other divers.
  6. Observe Marine Life: Watch for active marine life, such as fish, crustaceans, and possibly octopods.
  7. Ascent: We will ascend gradually to finish the dive on the shore where we started. 
  8. Debriefing and equipment cleaning: After walking back to the dive center, we will stamp the logbooks and talk about the marine life seen. It is also the time to clean the gear and get it ready for the next adventure!  

Diver Level:

Advanced Open Water Diver or higher.

Maximum depth:

15 ft/ 5 meters.

What to expect?

Marine life takes a different form at night. Fascinating animals peeping out of their hidings during this time, allowing us to show you spectacular display of colors and forms. Octopuses, lobsters and basket stars have nocturnal behavior and when the sun goes down is the perfect moment to see them.
