What to expect?

Cenotes are a natural pits or sinkholes formed due the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes part of the underground rivers. The term Cenote comes from the Mayan word “tz’onot” and they were considered it as the entrance to the Xibalba, translated to the underworld, and a place where the Mayan gods would visit.

Cenotes contains different structures like tree trunks, striations or speleothems. Some of them are famous for the bizarre visual effects produced by hydrogen sulfate cloud or the halocline. Scuba divers exploring these underwater realms can expect spectacular natural sceneries, fascinating archaeological finds, and tons of mystery.

Regardless of your scuba certification or your skill level, there are Cenotes to suit every diver!
