This course is designed to teach what to do in case of an emergency

An Emergency First Response (EFR) course is designed to teach participants how to provide cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, emergency care (adults, children and infants) and first aid in various situations, both in and out of the diving context. Here are some key components of this course:

  1. Basic First Aid:
    • Principles of first aid and the importance of safety.
    • How to assess a victim and prioritize care.
  1. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Adult, child, and infant CPR techniques.
  2. Injury Management:
    • Techniques for managing various injuries, such as wounds, fractures, and sprains.
    • Understanding the signs and symptoms of common medical conditions.
  1. Oxygen Administration: Basic knowledge of administering oxygen in emergencies, especially relevant for divers.
  1. Medical Emergencies: Recognition and response to various medical emergencies, such as choking, allergic reactions, and heart attacks.
  1. Environmental Emergencies: Specific focus on diving-related emergencies, including decompression sickness and other dive-related injuries.
  1. Practice Scenarios: Hands-on practice and role-playing scenarios to reinforce learned skills and build confidence in emergency situations.

Course Format

  1. Theory and Discussion: Learning through reading a manual, oral presentations and discussions about emergency response principles. A written exam will be required after studying the EFR manual.
  2. Practical Skills Sessions: Hands-on practice of skills  in a controlled environment.
  3. Assessment: You will be assessed on your ability to perform key skills correctly.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, you receive a certification, which can be beneficial for divers and anyone involved in outdoor activities, as it demonstrates your ability to respond to emergencies effectively.

What to expect?

Minimum requirement are three hours to complete this training.

The first step will be to take a class followed by practical part which consist in mastering the exercises.

Finally, different scenarios will be presented and you will have to demonstrate the knowledge acquired.
